If you ask any leader in industry, any beautifully fit person, any top athlete, anyone happily married for 50 years, or anyone who has made a significant charitable impact on a society how they achieved their success, they will all give you their version of the same answer: SACRIFICE.
They will tell you they worked hard for years. They overcame tough times. They went beyond boredom. They kept going when they no longer wanted to. They had a vision that they kept. They continued when things weren’t working and looked like they never would. They ignored all the people telling them to quit and that there was a better way. They defeated larger, tougher and stronger enemies. They SACRIFICED.
Everyone comes into the game wanting health, wealth, a great spouse and a trip to heaven (or at least Bermuda). The problem is few are willing to work for it or work through it.
To get anywhere or anything out of life you must sacrifice.
SACRIFICE = COMMITMENT, HARD WORK, ENDURANCE AND PERSEVERENCE.
Nothing will take its place. If you do not believe you must sacrifice, read the stories of Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Daniel, and all the gospels of Jesus and His disciples. For example:
“The rich ruler asked Him, ‘What must I do to inherit eternal life?’
“Jesus said to him, ‘Sell everything you have and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven (SACRIFICE).’
The rich ruler replied, ‘Uhhh, isn’t their something a little easier I could do like some sort of quick surgery or over the counter medication? What if I got a referral from my primary care provider? What if I came to see you about once a month...’
“Jesus replied, ‘Indeed, it is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.’”
What the rich man did not know is that what he would have given (SACRIFICED), God would have given him back 30, 60, or 100 fold.
