The Only Game You Can’t Win in Roseville

The Only Game You Can't Win in Roseville

Life is a game. But you can’t win the game. It always ends the same way, you, the hero, always die in the end. You do not get to keep any money, possessions, Boardwalk, Park Place or anything else you might have won. It all goes back in the box. There are not even any parting gifts you get to keep just for playing.

You can’t win the game. You just play it.

According to Dr. Scott Halida, like any game, you want to do as well as you can and have as much fun as you can while playing fairly and by the rules. The great part about playing a game you can’t win is that you don’t have to worry about how the game turns out or who is winning. Just relax, enjoy yourself and focus on doing your best. To get stressed out over playing a game you can’t win is crazy. If you give something your all, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose as long as you put it all out there.

Life easily can be described for most people as a bunch of stuff you cannot let go. Anything you are attached to is something you fear losing. You are so attached to transient things like your looks, your money, your car, your job, and even your friends and family who will only be spending a very fragile and brief existence on this planet with you that you are in constant stress and fear over something going wrong with or losing any of these things. If something does go wrong, you are guilty or unhappy about it for days, years or even the rest of your life. If we do this, then we are forgetting it’s a game we can’t win.

So let it go. Let go of whatever is holding you back from enjoying the game. Let go of your struggles, let go of your mistakes, let go of your fears, let go of your guilt, and let go of the things and people you don’t like. Let go and just learn how to play the game better and more fairly because, if you play the game right, in the end, you leave behind people you helped and social conditions that you made better. You will also leave behind where you did not play fair. Where you did not serve God.

You don’t want to leave loss of hope, quitting, giving up, letting people down, or not doing your best or fulfilling the potential God had for you. You do not want to play this game and never discover yourself or never become all that you could have become.

You can’t win the game. You just play it. It’s not what you win it’s what you are.

Grant Hill was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.  His father, Calvin Hill, who was an All-Pro running back in the NFL, gave him some advice on playing the game of basketball that is significant to playing the game of life. He said, “When you tie your shoes, you don’t think about tying your shoes do you? You just tie them.”

Risk everything. Live life with passion. Let go. Let God referee. Remember, it’s just a game. PLAY ALL OUT!
